For every city that was built in Delhi, the reigning dynasty constructed their own Fort for the benefit of their kingdom and built as a protective wall that shielded the city from outside intrusions. Thus, every city had one Fort and hence, Delhi is seen with Seven Beautiful Forts of which some are in ruins. One of forts in Delhi is described below.

Indraprastha Fort
The Indraprastha Fort was named after the ‘first city of Delhi’ named ‘Indraprastha’ that was founded by the five Pandava Brothers of the Mahabharata epic. Other facts reveal that this first city existed up till 1913 beside the fort but unfortunately seems to have disappeared since then. Excavations near this fort’s eastern wall in 1954-1955 and between 1969 and 1973 also revealed existence of inhabitants since the year 1000 BC and its findings and artefacts have been carefully kept and displayed in the Archaeological Museum situated in the Old Fort.

Greater Kailash, Delhi

Greater Kailash located in South Delhi was developed by the DLF in the year 1970, and is amid the upper class suburbs of Delhi consisting of some of the most beautifully designed houses of the area. This place is primarily a residential which is bounded by numerous high end retail and designer outlets.
This posh locality is divided into two parts - Greater Kailash I and Greater Kailash II, both these areas cater to the cream of the Delhi high society.
Also amid the most well known shopping areas of Delhi, the shops in the Greater Kailash market offer the finest of products designer labels and luxury brands in the city.
